The 2026 Jeep Wrangler is made for drivers who occasionally prefer dirt, mud and rocks over pavement. Models such as the Wrangler Willys and Rubicon are especially trail-ready, with available 33-inch off-road or BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, heavy-duty axles and specialized 4×4 hardware. But if you regularly take your Wrangler off-road, how often should those tires actually be replaced?
Don’t Replace Wrangler Tires Based on Mileage Alone
There is no single kilometre interval at which every off-road tire needs replacing. Terrain, tire pressure, driving style, wheel alignment and how often you hit the trails can dramatically affect tire life.
For regular driving, Michelin recommends rotating tires approximately every 10,000 to 12,000 kilometres. Mopar similarly recommends rotation every 6,000 to 8,000 miles, or roughly 9,700 to 12,900 kilometres. Frequent off-road drivers should pay even closer attention to uneven tread wear between rotations.
Inspect Your Tires After Every Trail Trip
Regular trail driving introduces hazards that daily GTA pavement typically does not: sharp rocks, exposed roots, deep ruts and repeated impacts. BFGoodrich recommends inspecting off-road tires before and after every trail run for cuts, bulges and visible damage.
After an off-road weekend, check for:
- Cuts, cracking or bulges in the sidewalls
- Missing or damaged tread blocks
- Embedded rocks, nails or other debris
- Uneven tread wear
- Pressure loss
- New vibrations or pulling while driving
Visible sidewall damage should be professionally inspected immediately, as some sidewall damage cannot safely be repaired.
How Much Tread Is Too Little?
Tires should be replaced once tread reaches the minimum wear limit. Michelin identifies 1.6 mm (2/32 inch) as the minimum tread depth, while BFGoodrich also specifies replacement at 2/32 inch. Serious off-road drivers may choose replacement earlier because deeper tread is valuable for mud, loose surfaces and uneven terrain.
If your 2026 Jeep Wrangler spends its weekends exploring beyond Toronto pavement, routine tire inspections can be just as important as oil changes. Visit North York Chrysler for tire inspections, rotations and Jeep service before your next Ontario adventure.
