What's the Best 2016 Dodge Journey Trim Level for Me?
Posted on January 21, 2020
Dodge is known for personalized choices and the 2016 Dodge Journey, the affordable seven-seater, is no exception. It comes in many different trim levels with some distinctive looks and great amenities. You'll even find some exclusive features. The choice is ultimately up to you, but this guide may help as you shop.
Family of Five or Less
If you need something affordable for your family of five or fewer, the five-seat 2016 Dodge Journey is a very logical choice. The Canada Value Package edition is dressed with a chrome grille, halogen headlamps, body-colour handles, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. It has active front head restraints and seven airbags to keep everyone safe. Thanks to washable liners, the second-floor storage bins can take care of muddy boots and sports gear. It's also a good place to tuck away valuables such as your laptops or game systems. The family driver will appreciate an armrest, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, one-touch down windows and an adjustable seat. Since it doesn't have a third row, it has an especially big cargo hold, which can be quickly expanded with fold-flat rear seats.
Most Affordable Seven Seater
If you have a big family or constantly handle the team carpool, you need something bigger. The SE Plus edition is just right for you. It has all of the good stuff included in the Canada Value Package, but it adds two more seats, allowing you to seat seven. This is truly the most affordable three-row on the Canadian market, which is a good reason to check it out. To help the kids, the SE Plus adds rear temperature controls and reclining seats. You can also get built-in child booster seats. To help a big family carry more gear, it has standard roof rails with crossbars. Of course, it also has easy-clean storage bins and two rows of flat-folding seats.
Affordable, Sporty Ride
Also affordable, the Dodge Journey SXT is a sporty choice. It wears Tech Silver wheels and a performance front fascia. Special exterior details include foglamps and automatic headlamps. It adds lots of interior details such as a 115-volt power outlet and auto-dimming rearview mirror. This edition also offers many infotainment favourites, such as the larger touchscreen and rear drop-down entertainment screen.
Regular Hauler
If you haul a lot, you'll want the Limited and higher editions. These give you a fold-down front passenger seat in addition to the folding rear seats. This special feature offers length as well as width. Of course, you always get the under-floor compartments, which can double as a cooler on a hot summer day. The front passenger seat also has a hidden compartment, giving you more ways to keep valuable secure and out of sight. For light towing, you'll want a V-6 edition. It can tow up to 1,134 kg.
Winter Blues Beater
If you need a ride to help you defeat the winter blues, check out the Limited. It has heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. It also has a remote starter, letting you warm up the cabin before the family gets in every morning. The HVAC system has a tri-zone programmable thermostat, allowing the back rows to control their heat. Keeping you entertained, there's an 8.4-inch touch screen. This multimedia centre includes Bluetooth streaming audio plus a one-year subscription to satellite radio. If you love winter sports, you can attach skis or gear to the roof rails. You can also lay skis inside the cabin lengthwise, thanks to the Limited's fold-flat front-passenger seat.
Fashionista
If you like the Limited, but you still want something more, you'll love choosing between the Crossroad, RT, and RT Rallye. The Crossroad's leather seats have sport mesh inserts and are accented by light slate gray stitching. The exterior wears a glossy black grille, platinum chrome rails and black lamp surrounds. It also sports 19-inch Hyper Black aluminum wheels. Interior accent bezels are in liquid graphite. The Dodge Journey RT wears its own leather-faced seating and adds a premium sound system with a 368-watt amplifier. With the Dodge Journey RT Rallye AWD edition, Dodge takes the sporty look even further. Exterior details include 19-inch satin carbon aluminum wheels. The seats are covered in black leather with racy red accent stitching and perforated inserts.
Driving Enthusiast
The driving enthusiast will prefer the Limited, Crossroad or RT editions because these higher editions come with a 3.6-litre Pentastar under the hood. This V-6 delivers higher horsepower and torque to make driving more fun every day. If you want something sportier, you'll love the high-performance suspension on the Dodge Journey RT or the RT Rallye. Many drivers will prefer the RT or Crossroad because these editions offer all-wheel drive.
Tech Geek
Even on a budget, the Journey can satisfy your inner tech geek. Every Journey comes with an audio screen for streaming your favorites via your smartphone. The award-winning UConnect touch screen with navigation is offered on the Dodge Journey SXT and higher editions. A large centre storage bin houses a hidden 12-volt outlet and a remote USB port. Also available on Dodge Journey SXT and higher editions, there's a rear entertainment centre that's sure to please the kids.
