What's the best 2018 Jeep Renegade Trim Level for Me?

What's the best 2018 Jeep Renegade Trim Level for Me?

The Jeep Renegade has been something of a surprise runaway success for Jeep in markets all over the world, and this compact SUV is now responsible for bringing a lot of people into the brand who would probably never have considered a Jeep before the Renegade came along. But if you have decided it's the vehicle for you, which one of the five trim levels currently available with the 2018 Jeep Renegade is right for you? Well, only you can make that decision, of course, but here's a quick look at each of them to help you decide.

Sport

This is the entry model in the 2018 Jeep Renegade family, but that doesn't mean it's lacking in features and equipment by any means. As well as the standard 1.4-litre MultiAir turbo-four under the hood that produces 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, the Renegade Sport also comes standard with the Uconnect 3 multimedia centre with a five-inch touchscreen, and the ParkView rear back-up camera. Prices currently start from as little as $21,995 but for a little more the Sport can be upgraded to include the more powerful 2.4-litre Tigershark engine.

North

Next up in the Canadian lineup is the Renegade North, which builds upon the standard specification to quite some degree and starts from $28,645. The North has the same standard and optional engines as the Sport, but it also adds the likes of aluminum wheels, ambient interior LED lighting, air con, auto headlights, Uconnect 5.0 multimedia centre with a 5-inch touchscreen, steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, deep-tint privacy glass and plenty more.

Altitude

Altitude sits bang in the middle of the range and starts from $29,340. Cosmetic enhancements are pretty much the order of the day with this one as it takes the North specification and adds enhancements such as 18-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels; body-colour power, heated exterior mirrors with supplemental turn signals; deluxe black cloth seats; and Gloss Black exterior badging, fascia appliqué, instrument panel bezels and steering wheel. Like the North, the Altitude also offers the opportunity to add some impressive options such as the Premium Navigation Group that are not available with the entry level Sport model.

Trailhawk

As the name suggests, the Trailhawk is the trim level where things start to get really serious as far as off-road capability is concerned. Select standard equipment over and above that of the Altitude includes 17-inch Low-Gloss Black aluminum wheels, the Selec-Terrain traction managements system with Rock mode, hill decent control and Jeep Active Drive Low. If you want that Trail-Ready badge that tells the world you're in a Jeep that's ready for coping with the rough stuff, the Renegade Trailhawk is the model for you.

Limited

The Limited is considered the top of the range Renegade because it costs a thousand dollars more than the Trailhawk at $33,945, but it's really a joint top of the range model as it takes the Renegade in a different direction. Although it's still a capable off-roader with the Jeep Active Drive 4x4 system, the Limited concentrates more on luxury. As well as a seven-inch full colour customizable in-cluster display centre, the fact the Limited also gets the likes of heated leather-faced seats and Keyless Enter 'n Go should tell you what you need to know about this particularly upscale version of the Renegade.
